Description

Applicant Eligibility

To be eligible for the Tulipán Cultural Connection Award, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. U.S.-Based 501(c)(3) Nonprofits: Only registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in the U.S.–and in good standing with the IRS–are eligible to apply.

2. Commitment to Hungarian Culture: While the organization does not need to have Hungarian cultural promotion as part of its mission, the proposed project must clearly celebrate and preserve Hungarian culture, heritage, or community engagement in the U.S. The organization should demonstrate a strong commitment to executing initiatives that highlight and honor Hungarian traditions, history, or the arts.

Scope of Eligible Projects

The Tulipán Cultural Connection Award supports small-scale projects that foster cultural preservation and community engagement within the Hungarian American community, while educating broader audiences on Hungarian traditions and celebrations. Eligible projects must be open to the community, and can include, but are not limited to:

1. Program Development: Initiatives aimed at creating or expanding cultural or educational programs that align with Tulipán’s mission.

2. Event Production: Support for organizing events such as Hungarian concerts and performing arts, film screenings, or art exhibitions.

3. Educational Initiatives: Projects focused on teaching the community about Hungarian language, history, literature, arts, or folklore.

4. Marketing and Outreach: Funding to promote cultural events or programs, including advertising, digital marketing, or print materials.

Please note that priority will be given to projects that actively engage the local Hungarian American community and/or broader U.S. audiences, creating opportunities for dialogue, learning, or collaboration. These projects should have a clear public-facing component, such as workshops, festivals, or public performances.
